MASC Position: For
Reasons for the MASC Position:
Platform Issue Involving Education Funding In the FY 2010, many local Boards of Educations came to agreements with their local funding authorities to waive the MOE requirement. However, the state board rejected these waivers and as a result these counties are facing crushing penalties at a time of financial crisis. The MOE law as it stands has penalized local Boards of Educations for the mistakes of their funding bodies. It is imperative that the MOE requirement for FY 2010 be waived so that local Boards of Educations do not feel the crushing weight of a financial penalty on top of the debilitating cuts that already have to be made.
