Reasons for the MASC Position:
This is a PROPOSED stance. Not yet approved This stance is based on past MASC precedent. We feel that while we don't think the police should necessarilly get involved in cases of bullying in public schools, the authorization of a principal to notify the police will help communicate the seriousness of the matter. This bill provides a specific way for principals to report such incidents which will keep things fair across the state, and still allows the principals and school systems much liberty when determining consequences for such behavior.
