Requiring each county board of education, with the assistance of the county health department, to provide instruction in diabetes education in the health education curriculum that county school boards are to provide in the public schools.

Why? -While this is a mandate, it is a means of accomplishing an end that will raise awareness of a disease that effects millions of Americans -Students need to know how to handle emergency situations related to diabetes in the same way they need to know things like first aid and disease prevention -Lessons on diabetes and its causes would give students the knowlege necessary to avoid type 2 diabetes later in life
